YES.

"It’s disappointing to be legally compelled to provide free labor to an organization as parasitic and exploitive [sic] as WP Engine,"

No mention at all of the thousands of hours from contributors that enabled him to build wordpress, wordpress.com and therefore automattic.com

Du you have any estimate for how much of WordPress was developed by his company and now much by volunteers outside?

Thousands of hours, you say. Automattic says it pays for some 200k hours per year.

This whole thing wouldn't be an issue if Automattic could survive without the open source community. Matt wants his brownie points for contributing to open source but refuses to gracefully deal with the consequences. As a result, he himself could be the sole contributor to the project and it would still be a pathetic meltdown. He knew the conditions of the license when he used it, what the hell are we supposed to get mad for?

The irony, and downright gall of this statement, for those who have not been following: this entire spat began because he personally was upset that WP Engine was not providing free labor to his fake non-profit.

Nevermind that he forked B2B to create Wordpress and never gave anything back to B2B. Irony is right. This whole situation is just wow.
